Going to New Orleans Tomorrow

I'm going with a group of friends on a bus to New Orleans tomorrow. I plan to be in the casino by dark, and stay there until the bus leaves to return home at 10pm. Any good slots I need to look for? The slots have not been good to me lately. I hope they have my favorite Sun & Moon.

My parents are in Biloxi right now. They went down to Gulfport to the Island View, and signed up for players club cards. With your card, you get some free play. My dad got $10., my mom picked the curtain that had $1000. I just talked to them, and they're having a blast playing in the high limit room, which they NEVER do. She had played $600 of the $1000, and had won about $800. She was hoping she'll hit "the big one".

My GPS took me on a winding route through little neighborhoods of houses beat up by the hurricane. The GPS routes are certainly ways I would never experience with a map and directions. In fact, with a map and directions I doubt I would have located this little casino.

As it was the GPS said I had reached my destination and all I could see was deserted waterfront and the remnants of an old waterslide.

Just saw a story that MGMMIRAGE is using a banker to try and sell both THE Beau Rivage and MGMDetroit. It helps right now for Beau and MGMMirage vegas properties to use your play in both areas to help offers. If and once the Beau is sold things will change maybe some for the better and some for the worst.
I will be in Vegas in 12 days( for 6 nights) and I play mainly at MGM places,oh well.

I just saw an ad in Casino Player for Atmore in Alabama. From the ad, it looks like a typical casino resort, but I guess this is one of the places with all the bingo-based machines & no table games. I'm plannig a Biloxi trip in May, traveling from North Florida. The ad said Atmore is near I-65. Would it be a big detour from I-10? Just out of curiousity, I like to see different casinos, but is this one worth the detour for a couple of hours? Thanks.------Mike

Wind Creek Casino

On our way back from Biloxi today, Kathy (and Paul) and I decided to take a detour and check out the Wind Creek Casino. There are lots of signs on I-10, so we followed the directions and got on I-65 to Atmore, Alabama. You can see the Casino from the interstate. Gas Prices

Wow, the gas prices around here have dropped considerably. It was $2.79 in my town yesterday. I had to go to Pensacola yesterday and thought it might be cheaper there, but it was a little higher there. I did see one station in Gulf Breeze that had gas at $2.77. What are the prices in your area?

Update: gas dropped to $2.73 here today!

Hi folks. I've been tied up at work, but I did get to read this morning all these trip reports & other posts concerning the storm, & I just have time for this quick blanket. reply/post. I'm happy that all the board members who were in Biloxi made it out OK & all of you in the whole area did not have any more problems than I read about here. It sounds like Biloxi in general didn't suffer a great amount of damage compared to Katrina, which is a blessing in itself....

Conditions in the FL Panhandle

Even though Hurricane Gustav is many miles away, we are having heavy rain and constant tornado warnings. I live near the Air Force base here and I can hear the siren which has been pretty constant since early this morning. We also have had some strong winds from some of the feeder bands. The tornadoes scare me more than a hurricane. I'm still praying for people in the path of the hurricane. Hope the people in Louisiana stay safe.
