Well, another quick trip has come and gone. Hopefully this will be a brief report but I tend to get wordy so we shall see.
Left home at about 10am, about an hour later than we wanted to but DH had to work late on Saturday night and we had some things to do. After a quick stop at Starbucks we were on our way. Mississippi was covered in rain according to the radar, but somehow we managed to hit only a few spots of rain and arrived at the Beau at exactly 4:04pm. Check in was a breeze and we were given a room on the 16th floor with a gulf view, non-smoking and a king bed!
After quickly unpacking we went downstairs and played a bit. I could hit nothing!! This would be the trend for most of the trip. Things would have been different however if I had been paying attention during my first few hands and actually held the J 10 of Spades when the rest of the Royal filled in on the draw and I got a pair out of my A J hold, what an idiot, I wasn't thinking and was talking to the person next to me when I did it, it made me sick the rest of the trip!!
. After a little bit of gambling we went over to JIA and made reservations for that evening, we wanted to sit at the grill so we had to wait til 8:30, which actually was fine with us since we had grabbed some junk food on the way down and were not hungry. After making reservations we tried a little Blackjack and again had no real luck. DH decided to go upstairs and I hit the Breeze bar for a little while, I played and held my own for a while before giving money to the casino. I took the advice of a very wise man and took to changing games and seats, I have to say this actually worked in my favor for the trip. Anyway after not doing much and losing about $100 I decided to go upstairs and shower before dinner.
Dinner at JIA was great, we also met some fantastic people at the table. I had the Filet and hubby had Chicken and Shrimp. We also had two orders of potstickers which were AWESOME. For drinks we had 2 martinis (ME) and 2 Glasses of wine (DH). Our chef was named Tan and he was a lot of fun, I highly recommend him if you go the grill. The food was cooked perfectly and I loved the soy ginger sauce he used. All in all it was a fabulous meal and cost $149 total with tip. Definitely worth it, in my opinion.
After dinner we did a little more Blackjack and then DH decided to go up to relax while I opted to stay and gamble. I hit the Breeze Bar again and played for a few hours, up and down, up and down. I got disgusted with myself and figured instead of losing more money I would go play some Blackjack. I sat at a $10 table and while everyone else around me was winning, I couldn't win a hand…..After only about 15 minutes I was down to the felt and decided to go back to the Breeze Bar. I stuck in a $20 and something happened, all of a sudden I am on a machine that is hitting!! I ended up winning back some of what I had lost over the course of the day and cashed out with about $250. By then it was 2am and I needed sleep!!
Monday morning came quickly and I was up and about around 8:30. After showering we went down for coffee and a snack at the Roasted Bean. They have a great deal there where if you order something to drink such as coffee or tea you can drink, this worked for me. After breakfast we walked over to the Hard Rock and played a little, we like playing Blackjack there and the dealer Tammy we had was just awesome. We played for about an hour and decided we would go to the IP to check it out as I have never been. On our way back to the Beau to get the car, we decided to go have lunch at Salute before going to the IP so off we went down 90, the traffic was HORRIBLE. There has got to be another way to get there, we just haven't figured it out yet. Anyway, we sat at the bar and had a fantastic lunch. The food is very good, I enjoyed my chicken parm and hubby really enjoyed the chicken marsala he had. Prices were incredibly reasonable, we will definitely go back next time we are in Biloxi, but would probably go for dinner as the lunch menu is limited. Total Bill was right around $35 for 2 drinks, 2 entrees, and 2 sodas. Lunches came with soup or Salad and were around $8 a piece.
After lunch we took 49 to I-10 and went back that way, it seemed to take less time than going Beach Road. Headed to the IP and played Blackjack there for about 2 hours, won $70 and decided to head back to Biloxi. DH went upstairs to the room and I hit the Breeze Bar. I played for quick sometime, holding my own, moving around from Machine to Machine. Actually had a few small hits, but nothing worth cashing out, or at least I didn't thins it was worth it, I did have fun playing. The guy next to me was hitting like crazy, nothing big just full houses every other hand it seemed. Not sure what his plan was but he kept cashing out and putting more money in. I moved machines and switched to DDBP and hit a 4oak, that gave me back what I had put in elsewhere so I cashed out and went up to the room to get ready for dinner. When I got back to the room I convinced DH that we should go play some Blackjack since I did a little better than even at VP, so we went downstairs and I played while he watched. I had wanted to sit at a certain table but a guy was playing 2 spots, so I wasn't able to get first base. We walked around the pit and I found a spot at 3rd base and started playing. I was down a little when the couple sitting by first base got up and left, so I moved over there. See I smoke and I like sitting at first because as a righty it gives me a chance to hold my cigarette away from the people sitting next to me. Things were going okay when the guy who was playing two hands at the other table came and sat at our table. We all started talking, and he offered us his front row seats to Y , said he had seen it twice and didn't want to go by himself. Wonderful, we had 45 minutes to go til the show so I played a few more hands and walked away up about $25.
We rushed upstairs and got ready to go to the show, we got to the theater and DH went to get us something to drink in those giant cups because the guy who gave us the ticket mentioned he collected them and if we could, he wouldn't mind having another. Anyway, I go into the theater, our seats are in sec 104, front row, aisle. The clown is doing his thing in the theater when he starts with me, but alas he couldn't find the flowers he wanted to give to me LOL DH missed the whole thing, but his turn would come later. Chump he might have you beat, his starring role was amazing and I am not sure anyone could scratch like he did. It was sooooo funny and the highlight of the show. We did enjoy the show for the most part, but honestly I found the dancers to be quite boring. The Chinese kids however were awesome.
After the show we were hungry so we went to eat, first stopping at JIA for potstickers and a cocktail and then on to Olives for flatbread and cocktails. I had the Bronx bomber and DH had the spicy Chicken flatbread, I liked mine he liked his, but honestly after 3 tries and seems done with Olives, which is sad because I do really enjoy it. We sat at the bar at Olive's and talked to a few guys down from Atlanta, actually shared our flatbread with them as it was just too much food for us. In return they offered us some of their apps when they came out, which was very nice. As we were sitting at the bar this guy walks by with an empty stroller, then in a few seconds was back watching some game with the baby his wife must have been holding somewhere. We started talking to him and it turns out he was from Mobile, hubby asks him if he has heard of the CC of Mobile, and the kid is the Sous Chef there…….Small world, Hubby is friends with the GM there and if the guy hadn't been out of town he was going to meet us for dinner, but he was in NYC. It was just a weird occurrence. The Sous Chef was there with the Exec Chef and his wife, they came down to eat at Olive's and they were headed out when we met them. Seems they were not at all impressed with Olive's either which made DH feel good, since he didn't care for it either. He likes when Chef's give the same opinion he has..Go figure.
After dinner it was back to gambling, we played a little blackjack and I lost $50 in the first 6 hands so I walked away. I do not like losing that quickly. As we were walking around we ran into the guy who gave us the tickets to the show, talked to him for a few minutes, and gave him the cup he wanted. He was surprised we remembered. After talking we went on our way. Cashed out the chips we had and I went to the Breeze Bar, again it was a moving around thing. I started with $50 and lost it in one machine playing JoB and DDBP, so I moved on down the end of the bar, I guess it was the southwest side, by the service bar. I played that machine for HOURS, I only had a hundred on me when I started, so I put it in and started with JOB when that wasn't hitting I switched over to DDBP and wouldn't you know it, it started giving me small hit, then it gave me aces without the kicker, I remembered what someone told me and I found this to be true throughout the trip, if a machine was hitting a lot of 3 oaks it didn't take too long to produce a 4oak. I stayed on the machine for quite sometime, at one point I had it up to 1400 credits…I should have cashed out but I didn't, instead I kept playing and play, little hits then NOTHING. At 3am I cashed out and went upstairs, I hit the cash out button at 1000 credits and was quite happy with my $100 plus win on that machine, I needed it. That would be the last of the VP for me at BR this trip. It was fun playing but I ruined myself at the beginning and never quite could forgive myself for my stupidity. I missed my Royal!!
Woke at 9am, packed showered, got dressed and checked out. I forgot to go the players club to see what the gift of the month was, oh well. After checking out we went to the Hard Rock and played, I broke even. We then had breakfast at the 24/7 place on the casino, the pitboss comped us which was nice. After breakfast we hit the road, DH had work problems all the way home there were phone calls and talk about emails he couldn't get so when we got to Memphis we went and got him an iPhone, so he had something to get emails etc, then he had a 6 pm meeting he needed to go to because something was happening at work, so we finally made it home around 7:30.
It was a pretty good trip though we lost about $500 total, which isn't too bad considering that was the both of us and I got hit hard a couple times I played VP. If not for the two good sessions I had, I would have gotten creamed!! I tried to follow advice and limit my losses on any particular machine or game, but sometimes I fell back into the routine of shoving money into a machine, it got better as the trip went along and I realized it is much more fun to move around and try to win. The problem I find on Sunday is the bar is very crowded and it is hard to do that, on Monday the bar was almost empty making it easy to move around and play at any machine.
I only had one problem which I was there and it was a drunk who sat down next to me at the bar, this was about
1:30 am and the bartender did a GREAT job of taking care of the problem for me and running the guy off. He also made me a great nightcap, one of the best
Chocolate Martinis I have ever had. It was fantastic!! Anyways, that is my trip report, I am sure I left something out, but you get the general idea.
We were going to head back to Biloxi in July and the offers are still coming, in fact I had an offer for 2 free nights in my players club box upon return but
now I am getting a ton of offers for Vegas and I have tickets that need to be used by August 31, so I think we are going to head out to Vegas this summer
instead. So the next TR I have may be a Vegas report.
