Here's what I like and dislike about the Grand Casino in Biloxi. Please add yours. Likes - part of Harrah's so you can accumulate Total Rewards points - progressive VP at the bar and uprights near buffet - mail offers are good - free play offers are good if you go frequently
- casino is too small and smokey - not a great selection of slots - buffet is just average |

Not much Food, OK Never Stayed in a room Dislikes Small Casino Parking garage, have gone back to the wrong one a couple of times (there's two sections) |

Rooms good-- usually quite and comfortable Hotel rooms, garage, casino all pretty close to one another Good high end steak house (forgot the name) Easy to get comps directly with Diamond Card/player card Diamond Lounge is OK but not as good as other high end places Lots of mailers over a long period of time Can use comps at coffee bar but not at giftshop Easy to know exactly what your comp balance is at kiosk $1 of action at any Harrah's every 6 months keeps them from deleting any of your comps. They used to have some good drawings, slot tournaments, and promotions, do they still have this? Won some good stuff there in the past. Usually good service at the cage, hotel check in, and player club. Dislikes Slow free play accumulation with Harrah's system No more playable VP Buffet is only average, at best Small casino area with not enough table games open, especially blackjack Not enough 2D blackjack open No entertainment except a too loud band at the bar Far cry from the pre Katrina Grand--they just have not recovered. |

I havent played/stayed there since Pre-K. Went there this past December with $2,000. to play BlackJack. Walked in, went to the bar to get a Coke for my walk through to check things out. Bartender told me she would have to charge me full price since I was not playing yet. I told her to keep her Coke and I'd keep my gambling money and take it across the street. I then went over to the players club to tell them that since they were in the business of making money from selling soft drinks and not from BlackJack that I was taking my money over to the Isle. I did just that, and I am very glad I did. Wont be going back any time soon. If the Grand is listening,,,you only get one chance to make a first impression. I have always been treated very well at the Grand. I've never had any employee be anything but nice to me in every way. I can't tell you how many
times a host or floor worker has come up to me while I am playing the slots, and ask me if I am Rose, and when I say yes, they thank me for playing at the
Grand, and say if there is anything at all I need, let them know. I am not a high roller, by any means. I am Diamond status, so maybe that has something to
do with it. I like the Grand a lot. I can usually win enough to play awhile. My only complaint is the restaurant situation and that the casino is quite
small.

Rose, I surely dont mean to disrespect your casino of choice. I'm sure we all have a story of a certain casino that just rubbed you the wrong way at the precisely wrong moment and that set the first impression as a bad one. I was never a fan of the Isle of Capri before Katrina and the Waves came to town, but now it is my main destination. Next year it may be a completely different story. I also do understand the way it makes you feel when they remember your name from one trip to another. That's just plain good Public relations (as well as manners). Play On and Prosper. No offense taken. I just wanted to share my experience at the Grand. I think you must have gotten a bartender on a bad day, or something. But I understand how you must have felt, and I probably would have done the same thing in the same situation. Refusing you a coke? That is just uncalled for. The Grand is but one of several casinos I like to visit. I can always get a room there, and often on just a few days notice, so that is one reason I probably go there more than the others. But I am at least treated like I matter to them, which is a lot more than I can say about the Beau of late. And I have been going to the Beau regularly since they opened so many years ago. |

sorry you had a negative experience at the Grand. Personally I share Rose's sentiments, as they have always treated me very good too. Actually I can say only good things about any of the Harrah's properties I have visited as far as their customer service is concerned . In comparison, I have spent a fortune at the Tampa Seminole Hard Rock over the last 12 years, and...again by comparison I have been treated like dirt, and can't even get into their lounge when I want to. If I had spent the same amount throughout time at the Grand, I do think they probably already would have furnished me butler...lol. Their Comps and Special events are GREAT, I even like the small casino over the larger ones. I never have any problems getting a room for 4 days straight comped, and free flight offers are the norm. All very easy to book by calling direct, or through their VERY nice FL rep who I can't praise enough !!! and.... one other wonderful 'thing': I LOVE their beds.... usually whenever I sleep in a bed other than my own, I just don't sleep as well as at home..... The Grand however makes the difference ! I have already checked out of other places early, IP is one example, just to go 'home'.....meaning back to the Grand to find comfort and rest in their beds after knocking myself out gambling..... |

We used to go the Grand all the time. Very nice free rooms. Parking is great. Diamond Lounge is a joke. Very limited hours. No food. Hard to even get crackers.
Small casino. Mixed service at restaurants. Even though we are both Diamond, we have moved to our play and money to the Rivage. Great move!
As to the free coke. Sure, rather silly. But, casino bars are not in the practice of just handing out drinks to anyone that walks up. How is the bartender supposed to separate somebody with $2k to spend and a freeloader? (there are plenty of them) Again, bad move on their part, but if you were the P&L manager, what would your policy be? |

As for a casino's policy of handing out free drinks, of course you cant hand out free alcohol, but soft drinks!!! the Hard Rock has a serve yourself
machine and the old Biloxi Grand used to have one too. I don't mean to harp on a trivial subject like this one any longer, I simply thought it was such
an insult to make me pay for something that cost them so little. I even had a dollar tip laying on the bar when she came down to see what I wanted. Maybe I
should have paid the casino and not tipped her, and then let her know nothing is free here at the Grand. That was a mean thing to say, I think the staff at
all the casino's work their backsides off and I have no problem showing them so in the form of gratuities. Like I said before it is a trivial matter,
especially compared to the big picture of todays economic struggles.
Now for the comfortable beds, I never stayed on the bayside of the old Grand but the Beachside was nice enough. I didn't care for the long walk to the casino back then but I did like the casino. And the restaraunts. I really liked the very bottom floor where they served BBQ. I sure will be glad when the whole economy improves to the point of re-building all the cool places back better than ever. I know the people who work and live there do also. I wish all the casinos had the self-serve soda machines. The Isle (pre-Katrina) even had coffee and hot chocolate at their beverage bar.

FL Mary I may be mistaken but I think the Isle may still have a coffe bar set up off the beaten path inside the casino. (it may only be for the wait staff)
I'll let you know when I get back on Monday.
I went to a funeral for a relative in Canton GA back in August, and the funeral home had a self serve beverage bar with everything you would want from a restaraunt. First time for that one. RDJack |

Dislikes: Comps were very disappointing. (I was RFB in Vegas, but a week later I was in Biloxi and The Grand Biloxi comped me to one lunch in their Asian appetizer bar that I didn't enjoy). Some of the dealers were annoying, but one was very helpful and friendly. Very slow service at the Cashier's Window even though I already had funds on deposit there. |
