Day trip to Biloxi and Gulfport July1, 2009:
Kep getting offers from the Islandview. When they offered to double any free paly coupon for me and wifey got the same, plus threw in a buffet well I relented and we decided to go to the Island View.
After a hundred minutes of driving (I have slowed down) we were admiring the Beau Rivage in full view as we passed the East exit and went on to the west bound exit for Gulfport. That is the hardest part is to just keep driving to Gulfport. About twenty minutes later we were parked and entering the Island View. Wifey goes to players club for the offer and I play the quick hits inside the door. She gets four hundy free play and I get stripped of a hundy just like that! No nothing on that thing. She picks out a Wolf run and is unfamiliar with the freeplay system so she offloads all the play to the Wolf Run and is now locked in on that game, and an unfriendly thing it is.
While she plays I go to the players club for my promo and try to play my freeplay but it has not appeared after an hour so I go back through the players club line and as always reminded by wifey I play nice and politely ask for help. Anyway through much consternation I receive an apology and a promise of it being instantly added.
Played around the casino, found some games I liked but wins were a hundred or less and of course I just replay the coin . Wifey cashed out of Wolf Run with about three hundred real money from her freeplay so I guess it was ok . I just felt a little tired, was not drinking because it was a down and back, and did not want to squander my bank anymore.
So what now, of course, the BuffA. Coupon worked great, easy with ID, then to a line of people waiting for seating.
Rough road ahead, I'm going to pan the Buffet. Service was pretty unusual, got tea instantly but silver ware was a problem. They left extra napkins but no silverware. Maybe somebody took ours, I don't know. Minor.
The food was well presented on cuisine stations but included all the usual suspects. Not bad but certainly not memorable. The one food that was such a surprise was the boiled jumbo shrimp. Probably eight count headless shrimp boiled and presented in a mountain. I do believe that they were local wild shrimp. Not the frozen Asian imports. Thanks Island view for supporting those fishermen. They work so hard for so little.
Impressive as the shrimp were I could not help but wonder why they would not grill some of those beauties with some imagination so I could be writing about an exceptional and wonderfully memorable experience I had rather than the traditional forgettable Boof-A .
I guess I'm just in a nit picky mood.
Overall I am not in love with the Island View, although all the table mins were five bucks. I would love to stay and play some day, but not today!
On to the Beau. Still love it, same kinda damage as the Island View though. I was just sure I was gonna get eight or nine quick hits for a jackpot but alas the outcome was not in my favor.
Tired and unhappy with my eating cycle we left for home about five o'clock.
The only thing I really won was this: Around five there was a MAJOR accident near Robertsdale and ALL INTERSTATE TRAFFIC was being diverted off at the Wilcox exit closing the interstate highway till around one am. My biggest win was that my side was not the accident side and as I passed literally miles and miles of crawling, snarled, bumper to bumper traffic I knew I was the winner!
Cya at the Beau!
