Tired of losing |
Lead | |
|
Is it just me and the gambling gods are just taking their revenge on me for all the W2`s in the past years or are those days gone for good ? It seems like
since the invention of free play being given away like water and the casinos tightening up, that the gambling landscape has completely changed from what it was
just a couple of years ago. So much that i am thinking it may be time for me to hang up my players card. I see no hand pays any more for the most part and the
biggest win i have had on any slot machine in two years is four hundred dollars. when i walk around and see what people are playing, mostly the penny machines
for 30 ,60 ,90 a spin. When i play them and get a hit for ninety dollars and am betting 1.25 to 3.00 a spin and it seems like a couple minutes later its all
gone. It seems like the wins on the pennies for the most part are never big enough to really get you in the plus column and to be a slow grind. I do enjoy
playing some of the pennies machine, but i also enjoy playing on a xbox or play station too and its a lot cheaper. what do you think? am i the only one that
thinks like this or do you think when the economy gets better and more people start coming back to the casinos things will loosen back up.

I agree, the pennies are more fun but hard to win big money. I do not max bet on then, so it is real tough. I will play 2 coin max on either a .25 or .50
machine and hope for a nice jackpot but the most I have ever hit was 12,000 nickels on a .25 bet in th per Katrina days. The IP had this Joker 3 reel, one line
slot, nickel shot with a 5 nickel max. That machine would hit enough to make a little or have a $20 last about 30 minutes. You can make some money on the
reels, but without the free games and bonus, they do get boring after awhile.
Out of 15 to 18 trips since Katrina, I think a come home with a profit less than 5 times. |

Since Katrina I have come home three times with wins and two with losses. Nothing won very big but I did hit for $900 on a $10 slot and $500 on a nickel one.
I could have won more if I had quit 12 hours earlier on two trips.
I agree that the penny slots are fun (more than nickels) and give a lot of play for the money but I rarely bet more than 60 or 90 cents a pop. Funny though, maybe it's the economy but I have now gotten a comp flight and rooms since I started playing pennies more and quarters less. Going a week from Sunday on my first free flight offer.

Hi Flyguy!
Which casino gave the free flight? |

It was the Beau Rivage and the offer includes shuttle to and from airport and three nights comped. I plan on charging food to see if any of that is covered.

Let me know how trip to tunica goes. I was checking in at island view two weeks ago and was talking to the man behind me and he said he was just staying one night because he thought the gambling in biloxi and gulfport was horrible now and that he was on his way to tunica where he thought the gambling was a lot better. I thought that was strange because mgm mirage owns the goldstrike and harrahs owns the horseshoe. I would think gambling is just as tight there. If any one else has been to tunica lately and can tell a difference please speak up! |

Here! Here! We feel the same way, enjoy the free rooms, food, drink and an occasional show. Bring an affordable budget, if you bring some back, it's a good
trip. If you don't, it's still a good trip. It would be nice to hit something over a grand, that would make a great, fantastic, wahoo trip!!!

That's what i have been saying. There was a time just a couple of years ago, when you weren`t just playing for a free room ,food , drink, a show like you are doing now. One of the first rules of gambling is don`t just play for comps and thats what it seems like we are all doing now. |

The rule about playimg for comps is a good one cuz we all tend to spend more than we would if playing only what we enjoy. As for tight slots. Tunica and Biloxi
are not alone. Vegas is just as bad. When you consider that a Casinos revenue profits depend upon slot play more than any other games, it's understandable.
The Penny machines have been big money makers so you will see fewer and fewer 2 and 3 coin traditional slots. I'm afraid the big slot wins of two years ago
are only fond memories. I was always a big winner on slots but not now and I think the lack of activity on all these forjims bears that out. People don't
want to risk what little they have in a no-win situationn my HO

My recent personal experience in Tunica is not different than what has been stated here - slots are tighter and winning sessions are harder to come by. Also, I
have seen a reduction in offers. Last year in December, Hollywood in Tunica offered me a free room most weekends in December. This year - a $139 room rate for
a weekend night. My play at Hollywood has not decreased, either.

Personally I am thoroughly disgusted by how the casinos are ripping poeple off. Gone are the jackpots.....Ok, once in a while somebody wins once of the real large ones, and you can read about it in the paper, but here in FL it's easier to be struck by lighting... I believe that most of the casinos have shifted their strategy and are just aiming to bring in customers through 'Special Events' with the idea of 'Draw them in..', but, once there.... it's all a money sucking game... 'them' good ole days, when it was still possible to 'hit' now and than, are gone.... I now have my OWN 'strategy', namely: I will play out the 'Free Plays', take the 'Special Events', the hotel stays, free flights... whatever 'Freebies' there are... IF they even happen to fit into my schedule... however.... NO MORE OF MY MONEY !!! After the 'freebies' are gone, so will I be, for good.... I think, when serious gamblers like myself are 'seeing the light' and calling it quits, it's because the casinos are cutting there own throats. |

Gambling addict i think you are 100% right. The only way things will ever change is when enough of the hard core base of gamblers are run off and the casinos see the light. I really don't know if that will ever happen though, because so many people seem to be perfectly happy to receive the freebie's and then pay for them. I know mgm mirage took the beau off the market because it was their number one cash cow. I may be dead and gone before anything changes. Hey anyone up for a cruise! |

lawncat may be correct. Mrs flyguy and I just came back from a free junket to the Beau and were careful about gambling so we only lost $267 over three days. I
will probably not be invited back although I played some long hours on penny and nickel machines. Quarters, Half Dollar and Dollar slots got some but not much
attention. Lost mindly the first night (since we got in late). Lost heavy the next day and night. Then rebounded the next day and the last morning to only
lose the $267! Spent more for misc, tips, and food away from the casino than we lost playing.
Will do a TR after the holiday.

My best freind called me this morning. He and his wife just got back from vegas yesterday. They stayed at the palazzo for four nights and said that the
gambling was the worst he has ever experenced. He said that they thought about just staying up in the room saturday night till there flight sunday morning just
so they didn`t lose any more. I told him i had been there and done that!

Its finally happened, the beau has kicked me to the curb! The offer in the mailer i received last week was for 69.00 anight and 20.00 or 30.00 in free play. I
knew something like this was coming but i didn't think It would be this ouick. The free play i don`t care about because as you know, i think it just a
sucker play by the casino and wish they would do away with it forever. Its the 69.00 anight i don`t get . If i was the suit in charge of player development i
would have some software that flagged players whose play for years were vip play, then all of a sudden their play was only a drop in bucket to what they were
running though the machines. I also would have a host or someone calling to find out what the problem was. If i personally ran my business like mgm mirage is
running theirs i would have been belly up years ago. I am not so sure mgm mirage is still going to make anyway with the reviews i have been reading about
center city and watching the slowly declining stock price. It just makes me mad when a company has a great working business model for years and become so
greedy that they run it into the ground one day at a time. I know times are bad. I only wish i had the money to buy up a casino and run it like it should be
run! I am tired of moaning now so in leaving i wish all of a happy new year.

slot payback | ||
|
according to casino player magazine the slot payoff has not changed at the miss. casino's. they are broken down into coastol. upper river and the vicksburg
or middle river. in tunica where i live the payback remains just under 94%. the vichsburg area is about 94%. the video poker payback is of course higher. the
coastol area payback is just under 94%. with these figures most visits tuen out to be losing ones. despite the fact that with penny slots you are playing much
more than pennies they tend to have lower payback of any slot and the payback is 90% or lower.

Jepatey for many years i received casino player magazine and the payback % for the coastal and upper river years ago was really only at around 95% on slots
then according to casino player. Today if the coastal casinos are paying back 94.00 of every 100.00 taken in i would have to eat every word i have said about
the gaming in the coastal region of late. But really i don`t think i would really have to worry about that happening because most of you have experienced the
same gaming % as i have and its not been any where near 94% all of us can only wish for those days back. By the way i don`t receive casino player anymore. I
have to agree with you on the percentage of the pennies being in high 80% but god only knows what the reel machines are paying back these days. I would have
to guess its the lowest that the Mississippi law allows.

I am sure somebody from most of the gulfs casinos reads this site from time to time and this being the start of a new gambling year. This may be one of the best times to speak up and let them know how you felt about gaming in 2009. You don`t have to moan and groan about how bad it was like a few of us have. You may have experienced a totally different year than we have. I just think everyone that visits this forum from time to time, would really like to hear what all of you have to say instead of just a few of us and i don`t think letting the casinos know how we feel can possibly hurt either! So go ahead and speak up ! |

they receive the material from the gaming commision and this is reported to the gaming commission by the casino's.the only real change i have seen over the
years is on the strip in las vegas where the payback has decreased from 94 to 90=91 %. the las vegas gaming commision checks the slot machines at random . i
doubt if the miss. gaming commision does. i have seen and talked to them in vegas. they cannot even move a machine there w/o the gaming commision being
notified. the % payback is based on the long term and there can be prolonged dry spells. i play very few slots because of this and play video poker
exclusively. you can at least look at the paytable and know the patback on the machine.
