The wife and I left Troy, Alabama at 1:30pm Friday for the 3 1/2 hr drive to Biloxi. I had 3 nights comped at the Hard Rock and we each had 2 tickets to see Kansas in concert for Saturday night. Checked in at 5pm to the Royal tower. The room was nice and had a coffee pot and view of the gulf. We knew we were coming back Sunday but opted to reserve that night as well. That way we could stay as late as we wanted Sunday without having to worry about checking our bags.
We had a free gift of a copper pan set that looked really neat that I had reserved for each of us. We went downstairs to get our treasure and there the lady in front of us got the last one. They would have given us a rain check but said had to pick up in 30 days and we knew we would not get back down by then, so she opted for luggage and I got $25 in free play.
We decided to eat the seafood buffet and the Beau. The crab legs were good and prime rib was very good. After that there was nothing much to brag on. Quality has gone down. I expect a little more from a buffet that is $30 plus tax each. At least I had $15 off and the wife had $10. After that I played some HotShot Progressive but could not get a bonus going and decided to quit there. We played a little Wheel of Fortune. I played on a quarter machine that had 4 games on it. I had a few wheel spins and red 7's with a 2x multiplied. I cashed out a hundred ahead on that.
After dinner we went back over the the Hard Rock for some drawings. I played some Triple Diamond Strike at the $1 level and quickly lost $60. Played $1 WoF and lost a quick $60. Played some High card Flush at a table and the bonuses are similar to Pai Gai. I hit a 3 card straight flush one hand that paid 7:1 odds for $35 and also a 4card flush for even money 1:1. Cashed out ahead on that.
I started playing some blackjack at a $10 table. I played for an hour or so and we had a fun table. There was a guy playing $500 a hand and an open spot by him. The wife decided she wanted to learn and I told her to take the open spot which happened to by by him. He made a $5 bet for her on a bonus that pays 9:1 for flushed, straights, trips etc. and it one and he let her keep the money. She enjoyed playing and at one time he was playing 3 spots $500 each and told her, “pull your bet back I will play a hand on your spot for both of us and if we win we split. He lost unfortunately. But we played for hours til 4am. I cashed out a hundred ahead on that, and she won $75.
Saturday we slept til 10:30 am and a girl we met a few years back came down for a night with a friend of hers. About 1pm we decided to grab a burger at the 24/7. I chose one that had bacon and an egg on it. It was delicious. I will get one again. We drank and I played a few slots that afternoon including Triple Stars that I hit a little but nothing big and lost my buy in on that. Triple Diamond Strike was a bust for me.
It was time to go back to the room for a while and get ready for the Kansas concert. Show opened at 8pm. About the third song in they did “Pointe of Know Return” which was good. Here is a link to a video I shot. I hope it works
We had a great time at the concert and it was one of the girl’s birthday. Sunday Morning we got up and decided to have The Roasted Bean at the Beau for breakfast. The 3 ladies decided to hang out and talk and suggested I go play a little. I had not had a chance
to play Carribean Stud, so I sat down at the table. There were no other players but the jackpot was $126,000. I began playing and finally won a hand. Another player joined the table and he began to catch cards, two pair then three of a kind. I finally caught two pair and the dealer did not open. Ugh! The other player left to play in a poker tournament and I was getting low on chips but decided to play a few more hands. I checked my cards and I was dealt the A,K and 10 of spades my first three cards, the excitement grew then I saw a 4 of diamonds then of course a Q of spades. On that note I had to quit, fate was laughing at me.
Well I met up with my wife and her friends and we walked back to the Hard Rock. It was time for them to go. My wife and I went back down to the casino and played a little video poker while watching our home team Troy Trojans play in the championship game of their basketball conference tournament. She caught two four of a kinds and the best I could get was a full house. Well the Trojans won the game and got a bid to play in the NCAA basketball tournament. They play Duke in the first round. Everyone hates Duke because they are usually very good so that means Troy will have extra people pulling for them. They will need it since they are 19 pt underdogs.
We decided to eat the buffet at the Hard Rock. I had some sausage and shrimp gumbo that was very good. The other dished were tasty as well. This time the food quality seemed better than at the Beau’s buffet.
We left about 5:30pm and got home at 9:pm. I had a hard time posting because the time change and of course me burning the candle at both ends had me tired.
